Buddhika Sanjeewa is a Popular Author and Senior Journalist in Sri Lanka. Now he is working as the Founder, Chairman & Chief Editor of both “Mettavalokanaya” International Monthly Buddhist Magazine & Website / “Bhikkhunis” – The World’s First International Monthly Buddhist Magazine & Website of Mettavalokana Buddhist Publications Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. According to his talented career, he has vast knowledge in 22 years of experience in Religious Affairs & Media sector both locally and internationally.

Buddhika Sanjeewa always thinking to do in his best to the Buddha Sasana. On December 01, 2014 he decided to start International Buddhist Magazine and Official Buddhist Website. His thinking was successful. Nowadays, “Mettavalokanaya”, Sri Lankan’s Most Popular & Leading Monthly International Buddhist Magazine. Before 05 years ago, for the first time in Sri Lankan Buddhist Magazines history, Mettavalokanaya Monthly International Buddhist Magazine has been published fully in English, which includes 560pages of articles related to Buddhism. Since its establishment in 2015, the Buddhist Magazine has been successfully distributed to 45 countries up to date including all districts across Sri Lanka.

On 2020, Buddhika Sanjeewa decided to start according to his concept and ideas, the World’s First International Bhikkhunis Magazine & Website. This is the second and newly magazine & website from Mettavalokanaya, specially for whole Bhikkhunis (Nuns) in the world. This is the World’s First Time, and this is the First International Bhikkhunis Magazine & Website. As a Chief Editor, Chairman & Founder of Mettavalokanaya International Buddhist Magazine & Website / Bhikkhunis International Buddhist Magazine & Website, today marks a very special day for Buddhika Sanjeewa, because he had one dream to publish one special Buddhist Magazine Specially for Bhikkhunis in the World.  He is not a Monk or Bhikkhuni or Lady, but as a Layman he already achieved his target and appeared to do this Golden “Bhikkhunis” Magazine. Because, he always respects to Bhikkhunis as his Mother. According to his vast globally knowledge with experience & 20 years International Buddhist propagate efforts, he always does insist best to the Bhikkhuni Sasana forever.

The Founder & Chief Editor of “Mettavalokanaya” International Buddhist Magazine, Buddhika Sanjeewa has been elected as the Media Director of World Alliance of Buddhists (WAB), the first Sri Lankan to sit on this internationally prestigious body in the history of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. This achievement for Sri Lanka came at the Executive Council Meeting, which was held in Mandalay, Bagan Buddha Temple premises, Myanmar on January 22 – 25, B.E. 2560 (2018). Buddhika Sanjeewa specially selected for this newly post through the 31 countries & 63 Buddhist organizations in the world. Buddhika Sanjeewa, who has served for 22 years to the Buddhism both locally and internationally as a Journalist & Representative and has held many other posts in the Media & Religious Affairs field, is a renowned and well experienced Journalist.

Buddhika Sanjeewa is always in touching with overseas and he has many official & friendship contacts in worldwide with Princes, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Ministers look likes His Majesty Norodom Thanora – Prince of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Her Excellency Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad – Princess of Baroda, India, His Excellency Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji – Prime Minister of Bhutan, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa – President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa – Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. Furthermore, Buddhika Sanjeewa have met and discussed of Buddhism propagation worldwide planning and programming with Internationally Most Popular, Senior and Leading Buddhist Monks and Bhikkhunis (Nuns) many times. Those are the World’s Spiritual Leader, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Most Venerable Master Hai Tao, Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi, Venerable Phrarajbhavanajahn (Luang Por Dattajeevo Bhikkhu, Most Venerable Bhikkhuni Dhammananda, Venerable Bhikkhuni Dr. Ming Yu, Venerable Bhikkhuni Dharma Master Cheng Yen, Venerable Bhikkhuni Ayya Tathaloka Mahatheri etc.

Moreover, Buddhika Sanjeewa have met Indian Super Bollywood Stars Pretty Zinta, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu, Sameera Reddy & Sohil Khan on his media carrier. He organized with these Indian Super Stars several festivals and programs both in India and Sri Lanka. Buddhika Sanjeewa already visited 22 Countries on many times in his international travelling; United States of America, England, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, France, Norway, Germany, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Kuwait, India, Nepal, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Indonesia, Cambodia & Malaysia.

He was worked as a Media and Religious Affairs Co-ordinating officer to His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka from December 01, 2007 to November 12, 2014 in President’s Religious Affairs & Media Division, Presidential Secretariat, Colombo-01, Sri Lanka. That is the era of Sri Lanka’s 07th Executive President, His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa. When he was on 21 years old, he was lucky be a Sri Lankan Youngest Presidential Journalist in Sri Lanka. Already done he reported and covered the News & events of two former Executive Presidents in Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga & His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Before joined the Sri Lankan Government Service, he was worked as a News & Political Program Producer from October 01, 2000 to September 01, 2007 in “Live at 8”, News & Political Program Division, Swarnavahini Television, E.A.P. Network (Pvt) Ltd. No. 676, Galle Road, Colombo 03, Sri Lanka. Swarnavahini is the Sri Lankan most popular Television channel. Furthermore, Buddhika participated as a representative of Sri Lanka and presented the special message of His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka in the “27th General Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhists” (WFB) held in October 16th – 18th, 2014 at Baoji in Beijing, China and reported all areas of this conference as news stories and articles for all Sri Lankan newspapers, television channels and radio channels.

And he took the responsibility of transporting Bo Saplings of Sri Lanka’s most sacred “Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Tree” (The oldest living human – planted tree in the world) to Bangladesh, Thailand and Taiwan and planting them there as  event is historically significant to both countries. These are the symbols of friendship between two countries and an international symbol of Peace. He was participated as a representative of Sri Lanka Government, for special commemorative programs of The Lord Buddha’s enlighten Anniversary of 2600 & the annually Buddhist  Holy Katina Robes Pooja on October 07th – 22th 2011 in Stockholm Buddhist Temple – Sweden, Paris Buddhist Temple – France, Oslo Buddhist Temple – Norway and Rome Buddhist Temple – Italy.

Buddhika Sanjeewa, was appointed as the Taskforce Media Co-ordinating Officer of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2013 (CHOGM 2013) held in Colombo, Sri Lanka He also participated as a delegate of Sri Lanka in the “International Peace Conference & Holy Katina Dana held in November 07th – 09th 2012 at Dhaka, Bangladesh and reported all areas of this conference as news stories and articles for all Sri Lankan newspapers, television channels and radio channels.

As a symbol of International Relationship Buddhika Sanjeewa was ordained & took the real experience of Buddhist life as a Temporally Novice Monk on December 06 – 20, 2017 at Wat Bhan Khun premises, Chiang Mai, Thailand. On that time my Monk name was Venerable Buddhidhammo. Received that name from Most Venerable Phrateppariyat Sa Ard Khantigo, The Ecclesiastical Governor of Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. 

In his life, he was so lucky for wrote and published various books about The Lord Buddha, Dambadiva in India, Nepal and World’s historical places recognized in Sri Lanka. He wrote a book titled, “Amadam Sisilasa”. Was the content writer for the World’s 1st published Buddhist book that includes 125 Dhamma talks written within 125 hours. 125 Dhamma talks of “Amadam Sisilasa” is a monthly Full Moon Poya day official Dhamma talk held at His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka’s official residence.

Mettavalokanaya will continue to envision being the magazine that will take the higher teachings of the Enlightened One to those in Sri Lanka and across the world. The magazine comprises mostly of articles written by leading and most popular Buddhist Monks and Bhikkhunis (Nuns) from across the world and Sri Lanka as well as provides the public’s perspective on the teachings of the Buddha. “Mettavalokanaya” International Monthly Buddhist Magazine & Website’s slogan is “The Aspiration of Metta (Loving kindness) to Enlighten the Minds”. Our mission is to write and publish on pure Buddhism and share them via different print media and online media platforms worldwide. As a creative and ideal International Buddhist Magazine, our main target is to teach good habits & qualities to the young generation who live in Sri Lanka and all over the world through Buddhism.

This award recognizes the magazine’s exemplary effort to spread the teachings of Buddhism to an international audience who are interested in exploring the religion and Chief Editor / Founder / Chairman of Mettavalokanaya International Buddhist Magazine, Mr. Buddhika Sanjeewa’s dedication to creating an international harmony and culture of peace through Buddhism. “Mettavalokanaya” International Monthly Buddhist Magazine so far has been successfully distributed to 45 countries in the world.
